Testo (Lezione 33, esercizio 1). Determinare x ∈ R x \in \mathbb{R} x ∈ R , x ≠ − 4 x \neq -4 x = − 4 , per cui converge
∑ k = 0 + ∞ 3 k ⋅ ( ∣ x + 3 ∣ x + 4 ) k \sum_{k=0}^{+\infty} 3^k \cdot \left(\frac{|x+3|}{x+4}\right)^k k = 0 ∑ + ∞ 3 k ⋅ ( x + 4 ∣ x + 3∣ ) k
(La prof indica come risultato − 7 4 < x < 1 2 -\frac74 < x < \frac12 − 4 7 < x < 2 1 , ma non è quello della serie scritta: per esempio con x = 0 x = 0 x = 0 la ragione vale 9 4 > 1 \frac94 > 1 4 9 > 1 e la serie diverge. Il risultato corretto, ricavato sotto e controllato con Python, è − 13 4 < x < − 5 2 -\frac{13}{4} < x < -\frac52 − 4 13 < x < − 2 5 .)
Passo 1: riconoscere una serie geometrica
Le due potenze hanno lo stesso esponente k k k , quindi si possono unire (a k b k = ( a b ) k a^k b^k = (ab)^k a k b k = ( ab ) k ):
∑ k = 0 + ∞ 3 k ( ∣ x + 3 ∣ x + 4 ) k = ∑ k = 0 + ∞ ( 3 ⋅ ∣ x + 3 ∣ x + 4 ) k = ∑ k = 0 + ∞ q k , q = 3 ⋅ ∣ x + 3 ∣ x + 4 \sum_{k=0}^{+\infty} 3^k \left(\frac{|x+3|}{x+4}\right)^k = \sum_{k=0}^{+\infty} \left(3 \cdot \frac{|x+3|}{x+4}\right)^k = \sum_{k=0}^{+\infty} q^k, \qquad q = 3 \cdot \frac{|x+3|}{x+4} k = 0 ∑ + ∞ 3 k ( x + 4 ∣ x + 3∣ ) k = k = 0 ∑ + ∞ ( 3 ⋅ x + 4 ∣ x + 3∣ ) k = k = 0 ∑ + ∞ q k , q = 3 ⋅ x + 4 ∣ x + 3∣
Per ogni x x x fissato è una serie geometrica∑ q k \sum q^k ∑ q k converge (a 1 1 − q \frac{1}{1-q} 1 − q 1 ) se e solo se ∣ q ∣ < 1 \lvert q \rvert < 1 ∣ q ∣ < 1 ; diverge se q ≥ 1 q \ge 1 q ≥ 1 ; è irregolare se q ≤ − 1 q \le -1 q ≤ − 1 .Serie notevoli - geometrica, telescopica, armonica → di ragione q q q (che dipende da x x x ). Quindi:
la serie converge ⟺ ∣ q ∣ < 1 \text{la serie converge} \iff |q| < 1 la serie converge ⟺ ∣ q ∣ < 1
Passo 2: impostare la disequazione
∣ q ∣ < 1 ⟺ ∣ 3 ⋅ ∣ x + 3 ∣ x + 4 ∣ < 1 ⟺ 3 ⋅ ∣ x + 3 ∣ ∣ x + 4 ∣ < 1 ⟺ ∣ x + 3 x + 4 ∣ < 1 3 |q| < 1 \iff \left|3 \cdot \frac{|x+3|}{x+4}\right| < 1 \iff 3 \cdot \frac{|x+3|}{|x+4|} < 1 \iff \left|\frac{x+3}{x+4}\right| < \frac13 ∣ q ∣ < 1 ⟺ 3 ⋅ x + 4 ∣ x + 3∣ < 1 ⟺ 3 ⋅ ∣ x + 4∣ ∣ x + 3∣ < 1 ⟺ x + 4 x + 3 < 3 1
Passaggi: il modulo di un prodotto è il prodotto dei moduli; ∣ 3 ∣ = 3 |3| = 3 ∣3∣ = 3 ; ∣ ∣ x + 3 ∣ ∣ = ∣ x + 3 ∣ \big||x+3|\big| = |x+3| ∣ x + 3∣ = ∣ x + 3∣ ; e ∣ x + 3 ∣ ∣ x + 4 ∣ = ∣ x + 3 x + 4 ∣ \frac{|x+3|}{|x+4|} = \left|\frac{x+3}{x+4}\right| ∣ x + 4∣ ∣ x + 3∣ = x + 4 x + 3 . Infine si divide per 3 > 0 3 > 0 3 > 0 .
Per la proprietà del valore assoluto∣ A ∣ < c \lvert A \rvert < c ∣ A ∣ < c con c > 0 c > 0 c > 0 equivale a − c < A < c -c < A < c − c < A < c .Valore assoluto (modulo) → (∣ A ∣ < c ⟺ − c < A < c |A| < c \iff -c < A < c ∣ A ∣ < c ⟺ − c < A < c ):
− 1 3 < x + 3 x + 4 < 1 3 ⟺ { x + 3 x + 4 + 1 3 > 0 x + 3 x + 4 − 1 3 < 0 -\frac13 < \frac{x+3}{x+4} < \frac13 \iff \begin{cases} \dfrac{x+3}{x+4} + \dfrac13 > 0 \\[2mm] \dfrac{x+3}{x+4} - \dfrac13 < 0 \end{cases} − 3 1 < x + 4 x + 3 < 3 1 ⟺ ⎩ ⎨ ⎧ x + 4 x + 3 + 3 1 > 0 x + 4 x + 3 − 3 1 < 0
Passo 3: le due disequazioni fratte
Prima. Denominatore comune 3 ( x + 4 ) 3(x+4) 3 ( x + 4 ) :
3 ( x + 3 ) + ( x + 4 ) 3 ( x + 4 ) > 0 ⟺ 4 x + 13 x + 4 > 0 \frac{3(x+3) + (x+4)}{3(x+4)} > 0 \iff \frac{4x + 13}{x + 4} > 0 3 ( x + 4 ) 3 ( x + 3 ) + ( x + 4 ) > 0 ⟺ x + 4 4 x + 13 > 0
x < − 4 x < -4 x < − 4
− 4 < x < − 13 4 -4 < x < -\frac{13}{4} − 4 < x < − 4 13
x > − 13 4 x > -\frac{13}{4} x > − 4 13
4 x + 13 4x + 13 4 x + 13

x + 4 x + 4 x + 4

Soluzioni: x < − 4 x < -4 x < − 4 oppure x > − 13 4 x > -\frac{13}{4} x > − 4 13 . (Attenzione all'ordine: − 4 < − 13 4 = − 3 , 25 -4 < -\frac{13}{4} = -3{,}25 − 4 < − 4 13 = − 3 , 25 .)
Seconda. Denominatore comune 3 ( x + 4 ) 3(x+4) 3 ( x + 4 ) :
3 ( x + 3 ) − ( x + 4 ) 3 ( x + 4 ) < 0 ⟺ 2 x + 5 x + 4 < 0 \frac{3(x+3) - (x+4)}{3(x+4)} < 0 \iff \frac{2x + 5}{x + 4} < 0 3 ( x + 4 ) 3 ( x + 3 ) − ( x + 4 ) < 0 ⟺ x + 4 2 x + 5 < 0
Numeratore > 0 > 0 > 0 per x > − 5 2 x > -\frac52 x > − 2 5 , denominatore > 0 > 0 > 0 per x > − 4 x > -4 x > − 4 . La frazione è negativa quando hanno segno opposto, cioè tra le due radici: − 4 < x < − 5 2 -4 < x < -\frac52 − 4 < x < − 2 5 .
Passo 4: intersezione
Bisogna che valgano entrambe (è un sistema):
( x < − 4 oppure x > − 13 4 ) e ( − 4 < x < − 5 2 ) ⟺ − 13 4 < x < − 5 2 \left(x < -4 \ \text{ oppure } \ x > -\tfrac{13}{4}\right) \ \text{ e } \ \left(-4 < x < -\tfrac52\right) \iff -\frac{13}{4} < x < -\frac52 ( x < − 4 oppure x > − 4 13 ) e ( − 4 < x < − 2 5 ) ⟺ − 4 13 < x < − 2 5
(la parte x < − 4 x < -4 x < − 4 non interseca ( − 4 , − 5 2 ) (-4, -\frac52) ( − 4 , − 2 5 ) .)
la serie converge ⟺ − 13 4 < x < − 5 2 \boxed{\text{la serie converge} \iff -\frac{13}{4} < x < -\frac52} la serie converge ⟺ − 4 13 < x < − 2 5
Controllo e carattere negli altri casi
Qualche valore di q ( x ) = 3 ∣ x + 3 ∣ x + 4 q(x) = \frac{3|x+3|}{x+4} q ( x ) = x + 4 3∣ x + 3∣ (calcolato con Python):
− 5 -5 − 5
− 3 , 3 -3{,}3 − 3 , 3
− 3 , 25 -3{,}25 − 3 , 25
− 3 -3 − 3
− 2 , 6 -2{,}6 − 2 , 6
− 2 , 5 -2{,}5 − 2 , 5
0 0 0
q q q
− 6 -6 − 6
1 , 29 1{,}29 1 , 29
1 1 1
0 0 0
0 , 86 0{,}86 0 , 86
1 1 1
2 , 25 2{,}25 2 , 25
per − 4 < x ≤ − 13 4 -4 < x \le -\frac{13}{4} − 4 < x ≤ − 4 13 oppure x ≥ − 5 2 x \ge -\frac52 x ≥ − 2 5 : x + 4 > 0 x + 4 > 0 x + 4 > 0 , quindi q ≥ 0 q \ge 0 q ≥ 0 , e q ≥ 1 q \ge 1 q ≥ 1 : la serie diverge a + ∞ +\infty + ∞ ;
per x < − 4 x < -4 x < − 4 : x + 4 < 0 x + 4 < 0 x + 4 < 0 e q < 0 q < 0 q < 0 ; inoltre ∣ x + 3 ∣ > ∣ x + 4 ∣ |x+3| > |x+4| ∣ x + 3∣ > ∣ x + 4∣ (per x < − 4 x < -4 x < − 4 , x + 3 x + 3 x + 3 è più lontano da 0 0 0 di x + 4 x + 4 x + 4 ), quindi ∣ q ∣ > 3 |q| > 3 ∣ q ∣ > 3 : q < − 1 q < -1 q < − 1 e la serie è irregolare .
Somma (dove converge): 1 1 − q = x + 4 x + 4 − 3 ∣ x + 3 ∣ \frac{1}{1-q} = \frac{x+4}{x + 4 - 3|x+3|} 1 − q 1 = x + 4 − 3∣ x + 3∣ x + 4 . Per esempio con x = − 3 x = -3 x = − 3 : q = 0 q = 0 q = 0 e la somma è 1 1 1 (solo il primo termine q 0 = 1 q^0 = 1 q 0 = 1 ).
Errori comuni
