Lezioni 25-26.
D ( c ) = 0 D(c) = 0 D ( c ) = 0 (costante)
f ( x + h ) − f ( x ) h = c − c h = 0 h = 0 \frac{f(x + h) - f(x)}{h} = \frac{c - c}{h} = \frac0h = 0 h f ( x + h ) − f ( x ) = h c − c = h 0 = 0 per ogni h ≠ 0 h \ne 0 h = 0 , quindi il limite è 0 0 0 . (Attenzione: qui 0 h \frac0h h 0 è davvero 0 0 0 , non una forma indeterminata, perché h ≠ 0 h \ne 0 h = 0 ; poi si passa al limite.)
D ( x ) = 1 D(x) = 1 D ( x ) = 1
( x + h ) − x h = h h = 1 → 1 \frac{(x + h) - x}{h} = \frac{h}{h} = 1 \to 1 h ( x + h ) − x = h h = 1 → 1 .
D ( sin x ) = cos x D(\sin x) = \cos x D ( sin x ) = cos x , D ( cos x ) = − sin x \ D(\cos x) = -\sin x D ( cos x ) = − sin x , per ogni x ∈ R x \in \mathbb{R} x ∈ R
Per il seno, con la formula di prostaferesi sin ( x + h ) − sin x = 2 sin h 2 cos ( x + h 2 ) \sin(x + h) - \sin x = 2\sin\frac{h}{2}\cos\left(x + \frac{h}{2}\right) sin ( x + h ) − sin x = 2 sin 2 h cos ( x + 2 h ) :
sin ( x + h ) − sin x h = sin h 2 h 2 ⋅ cos ( x + h 2 ) → 1 ⋅ cos x \frac{\sin(x + h) - \sin x}{h} = \frac{\sin\frac{h}{2}}{\frac{h}{2}} \cdot \cos\left(x + \frac{h}{2}\right) \to 1 \cdot \cos x h sin ( x + h ) − sin x = 2 h sin 2 h ⋅ cos ( x + 2 h ) → 1 ⋅ cos x
(limite notevole del seno con t = h 2 → 0 t = \frac{h}{2} \to 0 t = 2 h → 0 , e continuità del coseno). Il coseno si fa allo stesso modo.
D ( a x ) = a x log a D(a^x) = a^x\log a D ( a x ) = a x log a , D ( e x ) = e x \ D(e^x) = e^x D ( e x ) = e x , per ogni x ∈ R x \in \mathbb{R} x ∈ R (a > 0 a > 0 a > 0 , a ≠ 1 a \ne 1 a = 1 )
a x + h − a x h = a x ⋅ a h − 1 h → a x log a \frac{a^{x + h} - a^x}{h} = a^x \cdot \frac{a^h - 1}{h} \to a^x\log a h a x + h − a x = a x ⋅ h a h − 1 → a x log a
per il limite notevole a h − 1 h → log a \frac{a^h - 1}{h} \to \log a h a h − 1 → log a . Con a = e a = e a = e : log e = 1 \log e = 1 log e = 1 , quindi e x e^x e x è la funzione uguale alla propria derivata .
D ( log a x ) = 1 x log a e D(\log_a x) = \frac{1}{x}\log_a e D ( log a x ) = x 1 log a e , D ( log x ) = 1 x \ D(\log x) = \frac1x D ( log x ) = x 1 , per ogni x > 0 x > 0 x > 0
Con le proprietà del logaritmo, log a ( x + h ) − log a x = log a x + h x = log a ( 1 + h x ) \log_a(x + h) - \log_a x = \log_a\frac{x + h}{x} = \log_a\left(1 + \frac{h}{x}\right) log a ( x + h ) − log a x = log a x x + h = log a ( 1 + x h ) , quindi
log a ( 1 + h x ) h = log a ( 1 + h x ) h x ⋅ 1 x → log a e ⋅ 1 x \frac{\log_a\left(1 + \frac{h}{x}\right)}{h} = \frac{\log_a\left(1 + \frac{h}{x}\right)}{\frac{h}{x}} \cdot \frac1x \to \log_a e \cdot \frac1x h log a ( 1 + x h ) = x h log a ( 1 + x h ) ⋅ x 1 → log a e ⋅ x 1
(limite notevole con t = h x → 0 t = \frac{h}{x} \to 0 t = x h → 0 ).
Algebra delle derivate
Teorema 1. Siano f , g : ( a , b ) → R f, g: (a, b) \to \mathbb{R} f , g : ( a , b ) → R derivabili in x 0 ∈ ] a , b [ x_0 \in \,]a, b[ x 0 ∈ ] a , b [ . Allora:
Linearità: D ( c f ) ( x 0 ) = c f ′ ( x 0 ) D(c\,f)(x_0) = c\,f'(x_0) D ( c f ) ( x 0 ) = c f ′ ( x 0 ) per ogni c ∈ R c \in \mathbb{R} c ∈ R , e D ( f ± g ) ( x 0 ) = f ′ ( x 0 ) ± g ′ ( x 0 ) D(f \pm g)(x_0) = f'(x_0) \pm g'(x_0) D ( f ± g ) ( x 0 ) = f ′ ( x 0 ) ± g ′ ( x 0 ) ;
Derivata del prodotto (formula di Leibniz):
D ( f ⋅ g ) ( x 0 ) = f ′ ( x 0 ) g ( x 0 ) + f ( x 0 ) g ′ ( x 0 ) D(f \cdot g)(x_0) = f'(x_0)\,g(x_0) + f(x_0)\,g'(x_0) D ( f ⋅ g ) ( x 0 ) = f ′ ( x 0 ) g ( x 0 ) + f ( x 0 ) g ′ ( x 0 )
Reciproco e quoziente , se g ( x 0 ) ≠ 0 g(x_0) \ne 0 g ( x 0 ) = 0 :
D ( 1 g ) ( x 0 ) = − g ′ ( x 0 ) [ g ( x 0 ) ] 2 , D ( f g ) ( x 0 ) = f ′ ( x 0 ) g ( x 0 ) − f ( x 0 ) g ′ ( x 0 ) [ g ( x 0 ) ] 2 D\left(\frac1g\right)(x_0) = -\frac{g'(x_0)}{[g(x_0)]^2}, \qquad D\left(\frac{f}{g}\right)(x_0) = \frac{f'(x_0)\,g(x_0) - f(x_0)\,g'(x_0)}{[g(x_0)]^2} D ( g 1 ) ( x 0 ) = − [ g ( x 0 ) ] 2 g ′ ( x 0 ) , D ( g f ) ( x 0 ) = [ g ( x 0 ) ] 2 f ′ ( x 0 ) g ( x 0 ) − f ( x 0 ) g ′ ( x 0 )
Per esempio D ( f 1 f 2 f 3 ) = f 1 ′ f 2 f 3 + f 1 f 2 ′ f 3 + f 1 f 2 f 3 ′ D(f_1 f_2 f_3) = f_1' f_2 f_3 + f_1 f_2' f_3 + f_1 f_2 f_3' D ( f 1 f 2 f 3 ) = f 1 ′ f 2 f 3 + f 1 f 2 ′ f 3 + f 1 f 2 f 3 ′ .
Si aggiunge e si toglie f ( x 0 ) g ( x 0 + h ) f(x_0)\,g(x_0 + h) f ( x 0 ) g ( x 0 + h ) al numeratore del rapporto incrementale (un trucco per far comparire i rapporti incrementali di f f f e di g g g ):
f ( x 0 + h ) g ( x 0 + h ) − f ( x 0 ) g ( x 0 ) h = f ( x 0 + h ) − f ( x 0 ) h ⋅ g ( x 0 + h ) + f ( x 0 ) ⋅ g ( x 0 + h ) − g ( x 0 ) h \frac{f(x_0 + h)g(x_0 + h) - f(x_0)g(x_0)}{h} = \frac{f(x_0 + h) - f(x_0)}{h} \cdot g(x_0 + h) + f(x_0) \cdot \frac{g(x_0 + h) - g(x_0)}{h} h f ( x 0 + h ) g ( x 0 + h ) − f ( x 0 ) g ( x 0 ) = h f ( x 0 + h ) − f ( x 0 ) ⋅ g ( x 0 + h ) + f ( x 0 ) ⋅ h g ( x 0 + h ) − g ( x 0 )
Per h → 0 h \to 0 h → 0 : il primo rapporto tende a f ′ ( x 0 ) f'(x_0) f ′ ( x 0 ) , il secondo a g ′ ( x 0 ) g'(x_0) g ′ ( x 0 ) , e g ( x 0 + h ) → g ( x 0 ) g(x_0 + h) \to g(x_0) g ( x 0 + h ) → g ( x 0 ) perché g g g , essendo derivabile in x 0 x_0 x 0 , è continua in x 0 x_0 x 0 . Il limite è f ′ ( x 0 ) g ( x 0 ) + f ( x 0 ) g ′ ( x 0 ) f'(x_0)g(x_0) + f(x_0)g'(x_0) f ′ ( x 0 ) g ( x 0 ) + f ( x 0 ) g ′ ( x 0 ) ∎.
Esempio: la derivata della tangente
D ( tan x ) = D ( sin x cos x ) = cos x ⋅ cos x − sin x ⋅ ( − sin x ) cos 2 x = cos 2 x + sin 2 x cos 2 x D(\tan x) = D\left(\frac{\sin x}{\cos x}\right) = \frac{\cos x \cdot \cos x - \sin x \cdot (-\sin x)}{\cos^2 x} = \frac{\cos^2 x + \sin^2 x}{\cos^2 x} D ( tan x ) = D ( cos x sin x ) = cos 2 x cos x ⋅ cos x − sin x ⋅ ( − sin x ) = cos 2 x cos 2 x + sin 2 x
e si può concludere in due modi:
con l'identità cos 2 x + sin 2 x = 1 \cos^2 x + \sin^2 x = 1 cos 2 x + sin 2 x = 1 : D ( tan x ) = 1 cos 2 x D(\tan x) = \frac{1}{\cos^2 x} D ( tan x ) = c o s 2 x 1 ;
dividendo termine a termine: D ( tan x ) = 1 + tan 2 x D(\tan x) = 1 + \tan^2 x D ( tan x ) = 1 + tan 2 x .
Vale per ogni x ≠ π 2 + k π x \ne \frac{\pi}{2} + k\pi x = 2 π + kπ .
Derivata della funzione composta (regola della catena)
Teorema 2. Sia g g g derivabile in x 0 x_0 x 0 e f f f derivabile in y 0 = g ( x 0 ) y_0 = g(x_0) y 0 = g ( x 0 ) (con g g g e f ∘ g f \circ g f ∘ g definite in un intorno di x 0 x_0 x 0 , f f f in un intorno di y 0 y_0 y 0 ). Allora f ∘ g f \circ g f ∘ g è derivabile in x 0 x_0 x 0 e
( f ∘ g ) ′ ( x 0 ) = f ′ ( g ( x 0 ) ) ⋅ g ′ ( x 0 ) (f \circ g)'(x_0) = f'(g(x_0)) \cdot g'(x_0) ( f ∘ g ) ′ ( x 0 ) = f ′ ( g ( x 0 )) ⋅ g ′ ( x 0 )
Perché "regola della catena". Con la notazione di Leibniz, se y = g ( x ) y = g(x) y = g ( x ) :
d d x f ( y ( x ) ) = d f d y ( y ( x ) ) ⋅ d y d x ( x ) \frac{d}{dx}f(y(x)) = \frac{df}{dy}(y(x)) \cdot \frac{dy}{dx}(x) d x d f ( y ( x )) = d y df ( y ( x )) ⋅ d x d y ( x )

Funzioni continue su un intervallo → ) f − 1 f^{-1} f − 1 è continua su f ( ( a , b ) ) f((a, b)) f (( a , b )) : in particolare lim y → y 0 f − 1 ( y ) = f − 1 ( y 0 ) = x 0 \lim_{y \to y_0} f^{-1}(y) = f^{-1}(y_0) = x_0 lim y → y 0 f − 1 ( y ) = f − 1 ( y 0 ) = x 0 .
Passo 2. Nel rapporto incrementale di f − 1 f^{-1} f − 1 si cambia variabile: x = f − 1 ( y ) x = f^{-1}(y) x = f − 1 ( y ) , cioè y = f ( x ) y = f(x) y = f ( x ) . Per il passo 1, quando y → y 0 y \to y_0 y → y 0 si ha x → x 0 x \to x_0 x → x 0 (e x ≠ x 0 x \ne x_0 x = x 0 se y ≠ y 0 y \ne y_0 y = y 0 , perché f − 1 f^{-1} f − 1 è iniettiva):
lim y → y 0 f − 1 ( y ) − f − 1 ( y 0 ) y − y 0 = lim x → x 0 x − x 0 f ( x ) − f ( x 0 ) = 1 f ′ ( x 0 ) \lim_{y \to y_0} \frac{f^{-1}(y) - f^{-1}(y_0)}{y - y_0} = \lim_{x \to x_0} \frac{x - x_0}{f(x) - f(x_0)} = \frac{1}{f'(x_0)} y → y 0 lim y − y 0 f − 1 ( y ) − f − 1 ( y 0 ) = x → x 0 lim f ( x ) − f ( x 0 ) x − x 0 = f ′ ( x 0 ) 1
∎. Attenzione: senza il passo 1 la dimostrazione è a metà: è la continuità di f − 1 f^{-1} f − 1 a garantire che x → x 0 x \to x_0 x → x 0 .
Se f ′ ( x 0 ) = 0 f'(x_0) = 0 f ′ ( x 0 ) = 0 , f − 1 f^{-1} f − 1 non è mai derivabile in y 0 y_0 y 0 : il rapporto incrementale diventa x − x 0 f ( x ) − f ( x 0 ) \frac{x - x_0}{f(x) - f(x_0)} f ( x ) − f ( x 0 ) x − x 0 con denominatore che va a 0 0 0 più in fretta del numeratore, e il limite è + ∞ +\infty + ∞ , − ∞ -\infty − ∞ o non esiste. Esempio: f ( x ) = x 3 f(x) = x^3 f ( x ) = x 3 ha f ′ ( 0 ) = 0 f'(0) = 0 f ′ ( 0 ) = 0 , e infatti f − 1 ( y ) = y 3 f^{-1}(y) = \sqrt[3]{y} f − 1 ( y ) = 3 y ha tangente verticale in 0 0 0 .

Dimostrazione per l'arcoseno. arcsin \arcsin arcsin è l'inversa di sin \sin sin ristretto a [ − π 2 , π 2 ] [-\frac{\pi}{2}, \frac{\pi}{2}] [ − 2 π , 2 π ] . Con y = arcsin x y = \arcsin x y = arcsin x :
D ( arcsin x ) = 1 [ D sin y ] y = arcsin x = 1 [ cos y ] y = arcsin x D(\arcsin x) = \frac{1}{[D\sin y]_{y = \arcsin x}} = \frac{1}{[\cos y]_{y = \arcsin x}} D ( arcsin x ) = [ D sin y ] y = a r c s i n x 1 = [ cos y ] y = a r c s i n x 1
Ora si esprime cos y \cos y cos y tramite sin y = x \sin y = x sin y = x : da cos 2 y + sin 2 y = 1 \cos^2 y + \sin^2 y = 1 cos 2 y + sin 2 y = 1 segue cos y = ± 1 − sin 2 y \cos y = \pm\sqrt{1 - \sin^2 y} cos y = ± 1 − sin 2 y . Per y ∈ ] − π 2 , π 2 [ y \in \,]-\frac{\pi}{2}, \frac{\pi}{2}[ y ∈ ] − 2 π , 2 π [ il coseno è positivo , quindi si prende il segno + + + :
D ( arcsin x ) = 1 1 − sin 2 ( arcsin x ) = 1 1 − x 2 ∀ x ∈ ] − 1 , 1 [ D(\arcsin x) = \frac{1}{\sqrt{1 - \sin^2(\arcsin x)}} = \frac{1}{\sqrt{1 - x^2}} \qquad \forall x \in \,]-1, 1[ D ( arcsin x ) = 1 − sin 2 ( arcsin x ) 1 = 1 − x 2 1 ∀ x ∈ ] − 1 , 1 [
D ( s e t t c o s h x ) = 1 [ sinh y ] y = s e t t c o s h x D(\mathrm{settcosh}\,x) = \frac{1}{[\sinh y]_{y = \mathrm{settcosh}\,x}} D ( settcosh x ) = [ sinh y ] y = settcosh x 1
Da cosh 2 y − sinh 2 y = 1 \cosh^2 y - \sinh^2 y = 1 cosh 2 y − sinh 2 y = 1 segue sinh y = ± cosh 2 y − 1 \sinh y = \pm\sqrt{\cosh^2 y - 1} sinh y = ± cosh 2 y − 1 , e per y > 0 y > 0 y > 0 il seno iperbolico è positivo:
D ( s e t t c o s h x ) = 1 cosh 2 ( s e t t c o s h x ) − 1 = 1 x 2 − 1 ∀ x > 1 D(\mathrm{settcosh}\,x) = \frac{1}{\sqrt{\cosh^2(\mathrm{settcosh}\,x) - 1}} = \frac{1}{\sqrt{x^2 - 1}} \qquad \forall x > 1 D ( settcosh x ) = cosh 2 ( settcosh x ) − 1 1 = x 2 − 1 1 ∀ x > 1
L'arcotangente si fa allo stesso modo con D ( tan y ) = 1 + tan 2 y D(\tan y) = 1 + \tan^2 y D ( tan y ) = 1 + tan 2 y : D ( arctan x ) = 1 1 + tan 2 ( arctan x ) = 1 1 + x 2 D(\arctan x) = \frac{1}{1 + \tan^2(\arctan x)} = \frac{1}{1 + x^2} D ( arctan x ) = 1 + t a n 2 ( a r c t a n x ) 1 = 1 + x 2 1 .
